| Our pet toys are made from 100% natural loofah. The dried loofah sponge is great for pet toys as the loofah is not only safe to chew on but even better is the fact that the loofah fibres act as a gentle teeth cleaner too! Loofah is also environmentally friendly as it is biodegradable, a renewable resource and is very fast growing; these annual vegetable vines (the same family as pumpkin and cucumber) can grow up to twelve feet or more in one year’s growth producing many gourds. The plants to make our toys are grown without the use of any chemical pesticides so good for the environment but also safe for pets as it does not contain any nasty chemical residues. The gourds are harvested where the husk and seeds are removed, and cleaned well with water before allowing to dry. Once dried the loofah material which is thick, strong but full of elasticity can be easily moulded in to different shaped toys. The toys are not dyed and come in the natural shades of light beige to cream in colour. These loofah toys are intended for playing and chewing; although not designed to be fully consumable if small pieces are swallowed by your pet being a vegetable fibre they will digest naturally without any problems. Caution should always be taken with aggressive chewers so always supervise your pet when playing with any toy. |
