Our Complete Food is made with fish from sustainable sources, and is a by-product from fish for human consumption.
Fish farming (aquaculture) means we can fulfil the world demand for fish without over-fishing the oceans. As opposed to caught fish, it is sustainable for the long term.
Norway has grown to become a world centre for aquaculture. With Europe’s longest coastline, some of the cleanest waters in the world and deep waters to the shore it is ideal. Norway is one of the most efficient fish farming countries and is continuing to lead the world in improved yields and sustainable farming practices.
There are other important benefits of fish farming. Wild fish will have swam and fed in a wide range of water exposing them to potential contaminants. With farmed fish total control of the feed and water quality is possible.
Continual monitoring and testing of the fish and the water is possible and the fish used by Fish4Dogs are regularly tested to ensure they contain high levels of the important EPA and DHA Omega 3 fatty acids. If these are found to drop then feed is adjusted to raise the levels.
The other key advantage is that the whole process from breeding to processing takes place in a small area, allowing the fish to be as fresh as can be.
From seawater to fully processed fillets and salmon oil can take as little as 20 minutes ensuring absolute freshness. Rigorous cleaning and hygiene controls also ensure a completely hygienic environment – far more so than can be achieved at sea.
