Carbohydrates

Importantly, we do not use grain in our foods.

The role of carbohydrates in dog food is to provide energy and to bind the other ingredients together.  The problem is many pet foods use lower cost grains resulting in the growing number of allergies and sensitivities.

At Fish4Dogs we use potato and pea because they are two of the carbohydrates with the lowest level of sensitivity.

We use both potato and pea to give a balanced Glycaemic Index (GI).  Glycaemic Index is the measure of the effects of carbohydrates on blood sugar levels. Carbohydrates that break down quickly and release glucose rapidly have a high GI and those that break down more slowly,  a low GI.

It is important to have a balanced Glycaemic Index so that your dog can feel full for longer.

By using Potato and Pea as our carbohydrate we are getting that balanced GI and doing so with low sensitivity carbohydrates.
