Frequently Asked Questions

Sprats are a type of fish found commonly throughout Europe, West Asia, and North Africa. They’re similar to sardines, being in the same family of herring fish, and are abundant in omega 3 fatty acids.

To preserve their nutrients, sprats are air-dried as soon as possible. This gives them a distinct crunch that’s sure to satisfy any fish-loving dog (or cat!).

Sprats should be given to puppies in line with guidance for other treats. Because of their shape and crunchy texture, this is usually around the 12-week mark. At this stage, your puppy will be able to break down and digest the tasty treat with little problem.

Sprats aren’t just a tasty treat for your dog. The air-drying process preserves all the goodness that sprats contain, including their high levels of omega 3 and 6. This makes sprats a delicious and nutritious treat for your furry friend.

The number of sprats your dog can eat will vary depending on their size. For example, an extra small dog like a Chihuahua weighing between 1-10kg can eat up to 15 sprats per day. Small dogs weighing between 11-20kg can eat up to 25 sprats, and so on. For more guidance on this, please see our feeding guide above.
