Sourcing and Sustainability
At Fish4Dogs, we're proud Champions of Fish. We believe Fish is the Perfect protein for dogs, and not just because it's delicious and packed with Omega-3!
When farmed responsibly, fish can be an exceptionally sustainable, and ethical, source of protein.
Why Fish?
Fish farming has a lower environmental impact than animal farming, with fish requiring 2.9kg of Co2 per kg, vs 5.9kg for pork and 30kg for beef.
Because fish are cold-blooded, they require less energy to stay warm, meaning they're also much more efficient to feed.
Why Farmed Fish?
There is undoubtedly controversy over practices in acquaculture. At Fish4Dogs, we choose Norway as the source of our Finest Salmon recipe for 3 reasons;
- Quite simply, our farmers are required by Norwegian law to limit the environmental impact of their operations and carefully clean up after themselves.
- As part of their strict requirements, continual testing and monitoring mean we can be confident in our food's safety and consistency.
- In Norway, the use of antibiotics and growth hormones is banned. This means not only is the product ethical, we can be sure it's of a high quality.
